About Mia

  Growing up in the woods, I spent most of my childhood sitting in my room, dreaming up ideas and drawing them on paper. Art, music, and literature are staples in my world, which has been a bit of a protected bubble. The arts are what got me through years of loneliness and gave me focus. I used to feel like I missed something by not having much in the way of friends and being the youngest of my older siblings, I was the ‘baby bug’ that no one really spent time with (older siblings have lives, after all). Now, I’m so thankful for what I learned from that environment, because the only way to get better at something, is practice, and I’ve had plenty of time to get better at the things I love because of the forced focus.

  I am a parent (I hate the term ‘single mom’ as it makes a distinction that breeds contempt in some and praise in others. A good parent, is a GOOD PARENT) of 3 boys, 2 beautiful daughters, and a litany of newly extended family that I love and cherish so dearly words cannot express. My life’s goal is to set a good example and leave a legacy for them that teaches the age old lesson: No matter where you start in life, where you end up, is what counts. And where you end up, is determined by today’s choices, which turn into tomorrow’s situations.

  Writing is my primary focus, though not my only one, and very soon, I hope to grace the world with a litany of children’s books that teach moral lessons and inspire the newest generation to hold on to courage, even though the world may be dark, and many novels that I aspire to extend even further in the world of entertainment. Because right now, more than ever, the world could use some imagination and optimism!
